AS THANKSGIVING DRAWS NEAR
We were at Wally World the other day after DH doctor appointments and decided to pick up a few things for Thanksgiving...lol..I raise Narragansett Turkey but he is just too beautiful to butcher this year...so yep we purchased a tasteless frozen bird.. But i am glad we did because I am leaning to the idea that both of my remaining chicks just might be hens, or toms, but they are acting more like hens, and haven't even begun to display jr, tom tail feathers like their dad did late fall last year.. so if they are both hens <<I pray>> then i am glad we decided to buy frozen.. but next year we will enjoy fresh farm raised turkey

Those are pretty turkeys! My mom raised Bourbon Reds and they were so flashy. It would be hard to butcher them when they are so pretty!Lol
Wow that really is a beautiful bird, I can see why you spared it.
We plan on raising turkeys next year, do you recommend the Narragansett or the Bourbon Reds Tonia mentions?
Thank You, he is not only beautiful but friendly too. I think both breeds are equally beautiful, so the choice is yours, I chose the Narragansett because they said that they stayed home well, breed easily and are good mothers.. all have been proven correct. and I love the color.
